Inspired by a visit to Edinburgh zoo during the annual breeding season when nests rings with pebbles are placed for penguins to choose their best spot. Pink/purples/oranges with directional marks with shots of pure colour make up the background. The penguin is defined through expressive and controlled brushstrokes, bringing it forward from the background.
